Question!!

Ok i just finished watching the 3rd series of Lost and I'm sorry if i spoil this for anyone who hasnt watched it but the whole pregency thing is confusing in relation to Rousseau, Alex's mother. She got pregnant on the island didnt she??So how come she didnt die like all the others?Is it ever explained when she got pregnant?Please help cause im clueless!!
